Course
River University 2026 - CCB course
24 August 2026
Description
The 7th edition of the River University will take place in Sweden from 24 - 28 August 2026 and will focus on Exploring Aquatic Connectivity and Nature-Based Solutions.
We invite participants from the EU and Eastern Partnership countries to Join us for an immersive, five-day technical exchange hosted in the heart of Sweden. This event brings together water-related experts and practitioners to explore the frontline of water resilience, river restoration and climate adaptation. From the historic landscapes of Västerås to the expansive waters of Lake Mälaren, we will dive into the implementation and practicality of these topics, including the implementation of the Nature Restoration Law (NRL) - through field evaluations of successful Swedish projects.
Knowledge of freshwater ecosystems, rivers, nature-based solutions, climate change adaptations and related is advantageous as the course is oriented towards exchanging knowledge amongst water-related sectors.
River University is cross-sectoral and interdisciplinary, inviting practitioners, scientists, water-related institutions, researchers as well as businesses to collaborate. Contribution to the program is expected so please let us know what topic you can present or lead as an outdoor workshop.
Up to 15 participants are invited on the basis of the registration form, to keep our group familiar and comfortable.
The co-organizer of our event this year is the Swedish Society for Nature Conservation.
Application are soon open.
