CHANGE(K)NOW!

2023-2026

The Change(K)now! project helps municipalities reduce single-use food packaging in food supply and catering systems, and build social acceptance among companies and people for circular reuse of food packaging. brings technological solutions to help public authorities reduce plastic waste and trigger investments in sustainable sorting and recycling.

OVERVIEW OF THE PROJECT

Change(K)now! rethinks food delivery systems - shifting from single-use to reusable options and crockery. It targets municipalities, public institutions, food delivery companies, and consumers. Together, they can drive more circular systems by adopting practical solutions and changing daily habits. While circular options exist, they’re scattered, rarely tested beyond isolated cases, and not tailored or promoted widely enough to gain broad support. Change(K)now! bridges this gap by: a) developing prototypes, b) testing in real-life settings, and c) improving circular solutions for easier adoption.

Focus areas include municipal strategy, institutional catering, food services at public events, and local businesses in food markets and street gastronomy. A training program will scale up solutions and empower municipalities to lead in circularity- encouraging businesses to lower their footprint and enabling consumers to support circular, climate-friendly food delivery systems.

Under Change(K)now! project, a raising awareness campaign has been launched on social media. Dive more into the topics below!

CHANGE(K)NOW! IN A NUTSHELL

What is the main goal of the Project?

The project´s main objective is a mindset change from single-use to circular or multiple-use of food delivery systems in cities of the Baltic Sea Region.

How the programme is implemented?

Change(K)now! will implement:

 a) prototyping solutions,

b) testing in pilot cases context and

c) innovating existing circular solutions for food delivery so they are easier to adopt at four levels: municipal strategic management, institutional catering at public entities, catering at public events and in entrepreneurial activities on local food markets and gastronomy on public space.

What is the expected impact?

Change(K)now! will nudge societies & communities towards more sustainable consumption in the field of food delivery systems – Green Events, food markets, take-away gastronomy, food delivery & public catering. This requires the involvement of a wide and diverse group of stakeholders as key project actors.
