Description
The CCB side event "Green Recovery for Ukraine: from source to sea/sink" took place online (via Zoom), on 6 June 2025, under the UN Ocean Conference 2025.

This event highlighted innovative, nature-based solutions to address war-driven environmental impacts in the Ukrainian part of the Baltic Sea basin. It showcased approaches to reduce eutrophication, hazardous substances, and biodiversity loss - linking upstream action with climate goals. Emphasizing the Baltic Sea’s role as a carbon sink, the event promoted source-to-sea innovation and cross-border cooperation. By engaging global stakeholders, it supported SDG 14 implementation through resilient, ecosystem-based marine recovery and nature restoration. The event facilitated cross-sectorial partnership by presenting the connections in e.g. water-energy nexus by the experts involved in Green Recovery actions, as well as by sharing experiences from Baltic to the Black Sea basins.
Simultaneous translations (English-Ukrainian) were provided during the online event.
