August 18, 2025
Description
We invite you to join the course "Our Common Baltic" (OCB) about the impact of Climate Change in Latvia from 18-23 August 2025.
This year was dedicated to Climate Change in the context of the Baltic Sea and its coastal ecosystems. Participants explored how climate change is affecting the coast of Latvia, what measures can be taken to mitigate its impact, and how individuals can contribute to solutions.
Throughout the 5-day event, you will dive into:
- Understanding Climate Change and Its Impact: Learn about coastal erosion in Latvia, its causes, and how climate change accelerates these effects. Explore how rising temperatures, storms, and changing ecosystems impact biodiversity and habitats.
- Conservation and Restoration Practices: Gain hands-on experience in grey dune restoration and learn the importance of protecting coastal ecosystems.
- Get engaged in coastal protection efforts, visit nature reserves, and focus on conserving biodiversity, endangered species, and local restoration projects.
- Environmental Protection and local communities: Explore how climate change impacts coastal infrastructures and local communities. We will also learn about nature accessibility certification (NaaC), its criteria and benefits for sustainable access to natural areas.
