What is ASCOBANS?
ASCOBANS was concluded in 1991 as the Agreement on the Conservation of Small Cetaceans of the Baltic and North Seas (ASCOBANS) under the auspices of the Convention on Migratory Species (CMS or Bonn Convention) and entered into force in 1994. To know more about it.
Description
The 21st Meeting of the ASCOBANS Jastarnia Group took place online from 11 to 12 March 2025.
There were annual meetings, the Steering Group for the ASCOBANS Recovery Plan for Baltic Harbour Porpoises (Jastarnia Plan) and the Conservation Plan for the Harbour Porpoise Population in the Western Baltic, the Belt Sea and the Kattegat (Western Baltic Conservation Plan) - the Jastarnia Group - reviewed progress under the action plans, learned about complementary initiatives, and moved implementation forward.
