What is HELCOM? The Baltic Marine Environment Protection Commission – also known as the Helsinki Commission (HELCOM) – is an intergovernmental organization (IGO) and a regional sea convention in the Baltic Sea area. HELCOM was established about four decades ago to protect the marine environment of the Baltic Sea from all sources of pollution through intergovernmental cooperation. The HELCOM Secretariat is located in Helsinki, Finland. To know more about it.

Description

On 6-7 March was held the 40th Meeting of the Helsinki Commission in Helsinki, Finland, at the Marina Congress Center (Katajanokanlaituri 6, FI00160 Helsinki).

Main topics were the update of the Baltic Sea Action Plan, matters arising from the HELCOM groups and HELCOM activities during 2018.
