What is HELCOM?
The Baltic Marine Environment Protection Commission – also known as the Helsinki Commission (HELCOM) – is an intergovernmental organization (IGO) and a regional sea convention in the Baltic Sea area. HELCOM was established about four decades ago to protect the marine environment of the Baltic Sea from all sources of pollution through intergovernmental cooperation. The HELCOM Secretariat is located in Helsinki, Finland. To know more about it.
Description
The 9th Meeting of the HELCOM Working group on the State of the Environment and Nature Conservation took place on 22-26 October 2018, in Copenhagen. CCB was represented at the meeting by the Biodiversity and Nature Conservation Working Area leader. CCB presented two documenst at the meeting
The State and Conservation Working Group covers monitoring and assessment functions as well as issues related to nature conservation and biodiversity protection in HELCOM. Read more here.
