24th Meeting of the ASCOBANS Advisory Committee
What is ASCOBANS? ASCOBANS was concluded in 1991 as the Agreement on the Conservation of Small Cetaceans of the Baltic and North Seas (ASCOBANS) under the auspices of the Convention on Migratory Species (CMS or Bonn Convention) and entered into force in 1994. To know more about it.

Description

The 24th Meeting of the ASCOBANS Advisory Committee took place in Vilnius, Lithuania, on 25-27 September 2018. Here, the conservation of small cetaceans in the Baltic, Northeast Atlantic, North and Irish Seas are discussed, including the critically endagered Baltic Sea harbour porpoise. A key decision for this population at the meeting was that a harbour porpoise action plan coordinator will continue to be funded, to further the work with the three ASCOBANS  harbour porpoise action plans for the Baltic Sea, the Western Baltic, Belt Seas and Kattegatt, and the North Sea. CCB was represented at the meeting by Biodiversity and Nature Conservation officer Ida Carlén, who is also the chair of the ASCOBANS Jastarnia Group.
