What is ASCOBANS?
ASCOBANS was concluded in 1991 as the Agreement on the Conservation of Small Cetaceans of the Baltic and North Seas (ASCOBANS) under the auspices of the Convention on Migratory Species (CMS or Bonn Convention) and entered into force in 1994. To know more about it.
Description
On 12-14 March 2018, the Steering Group for the ASCOBANS Recovery Plan for Baltic Harbour Porpoises (the Jastarnia Group) met to discuss the progress in relation to the ASCOBANS Recovery Plan for Baltic Harbour Porpoises (the Jastarnia Plan) and the ASCOBANS Conservation Plan for the Harbour Porpoise Population in the Western Baltic, the Belt Sea and the Kattegat, as well as future actions for the conservation of the two populations. CCB currently holds the position of chair of the group.
