Seminar on promotion of best practices and technologies to reduce environmental impacts of Industrial Livestock Farming

Seminar on promotion of Best Environmental Practices and Best Available Technologies to reduce environmental impacts of Industrial Livestock Farming was arranged by CCB with the financial support of the EU LIFE Programme on 16 December 2016 at the premises of Velikie Luki State Agricultural Academy in Velikie Luki, Pskov Region of Russia.
The objective of the seminar was to support the reduction of pollution impacts originating from Industrial Livestock Production in transboundary river basins of the Baltic Sea
The following tasks were accomplished to reach this objective:
- Discuss development of Industrial Livestock Production in the catchment of Western Dvina / Daugava, threats and risks of environmental impacts, especially on water bodies
- Present Best Available Technologies that are used for reduction of environmental impacts from Industrial Livestock Production (pigs, poultry and cattle) as well as Best Agricultural Practices.
- Discuss opportunities of inter- and intrasectorial collaboration for reducing environmental risks, connected to Industrial Livestock Production
The Seminar was attended by more than 50 representatives of farms, authorities (environmental enforcement, water management, agriculture, municipal), academia, NGOs, media, experts from Russia and Sweden, as well as representatives of IFIs (NEFCO).
