Open letter from NGOs to EU Commissioner for Fisheries and Oceans - Our Baltic III Conference

A coalition of environmental NGOs, fishing rights owners and anglers from across the Baltic Sea region sent an open letter addressing Mr. Costas Kadis EU Commissioner for Fisheries and Oceans in advance of the “Our Baltic III” High-Level Conference in Stockholm on 30 September 2025.

The letter outlines our deep concern about the continued decline of the Baltic Sea ecosystem and its fish populations, and highlights the urgent need for ambitious measures to ensure recovery. It also sets out concrete proposals on fisheries management, habitat protection, bycatch reduction, and effective implementation of EU environmental commitments.
