Course Diversity Management in International Context
FUB-ContinuEd is a future-oriented, international continuing education program of Freie Universität Berlin. We provide high-quality, hands-on certificate courses for people at all stages of life and of all professional backgrounds who want to acquire knowledge and essential skills for their individual development. By offering a wide range of topics and formats, we allow our participants to flexibly integrate further education into their everyday lives. In doing so, we focus on contemporary teaching methods and topics that will help participants navigate pressing societal issues and changes in the workplace.

Description

The course "Diversity Management in International Context" was organised by the Freie Universität Berlin Continuing Education Program(FUB-ContinuEd). The course started on May 30 and ended on July 10, 2023.

Course Content:
- Introduction to the concept of Diversity Management
- Dimensions of Diversity (gender, disability, culture, race, ethnicity) and the concept of Internsectionality
- Approaches to identification and reduction of personal and organizational bias
- Diversity in digital spaces: challenges, strategies for leaders, and tools to foster inclusive virtual workspaces
- Implementation of Diversity Management and effective communication of Diversity measures in organisations

Outcomes of the course:
Diversity skills are an increasingly important key to success for teams and organisations. In this course participants learned about diversity management and developed approaches to identify and reduce personal and organizational bias, navigate conversations surrounding diversity topics, create diversity management strategies, and generally contribute to and create inclusive workspaces. Using a variety of interactive methods, with a focus on real-life, relevant case studies, participants developed their own resource-oriented toolkits and had ample opportunity to bring in personal experience.
