What is the SEABASED Project? Seabased Measures in Baltic Sea Nutrient Management assessed measures that could improve the status of marine area by reducing the internal load of the sea. The project is led by the John Nurminen Foundation, and the project partners are the Centre for Economic Development, Transport and the Environment for Southwest Finland, Government of Åland, the Åland Fishfarmers’ Association, Stockholm University and County Administrative Board of Östergötland. The project is funded by the EU Interreg Central Baltic programme.

Description

The SEABASED online event has been held on January 26th, 2021. This webinar was the opportunity to learn more about the results from SEABASED pilots that aim to reduce internal nutrient load. Keynotes and expert views from Finland and Sweden were also heard. The event has been held in English. The timetable was announced according to the Finnish time zone (UTC+2). The event started at 11:30 am and ended at 3:00 pm CET.

Mikhail Durkin, CCB's Executive Secretary, shared his experts’ views on the risks, potential and future of sea-based methods during the panel discussion.
