Description

The 9th Meeting of HELCOM Group on Ecosystem-based Sustainable Fisheries (FISH 9-2019) was organised in Tallinn, Estonia, at the premises of the Ministry of the Environment on 30-31 January 2019.

Nils Höglund, CCB Fisheries Policy Officer, attended the meeting and shared the information on the testing trials of pingers that are smaller and lighter than conventional ones, intended mainly for deterring porpoises. The aim of the trial is to establish whether seals are attracted to these pingers, which should not be the case as frequencies above 50 Hz is being used.

The outcome of the meeting, including the list of participants, is available here.
Other documents are available on the dedicated HELCOM page.
