Description

”Our Common Baltic” Summer Course at Hel Marine Station, Poland

The 2016 "Our Common Baltic" summer course was an appreciated course for 17 engaged students and volunteers from CCB member organisations in Sweden, Finland, Russia, Belarus, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland and Denmark. We enjoyed a warm summer week in Hel with new friends and new knowledge. Amongst other things we had a lecture on marine litter and an excursion gathering litter on the beaches around Hel, we visited the seals in the Fokarium and learnt about marine mammals in the museum. We also had lectures about the Baltic Sea and it's environment and problems, fisheries and the work of NGOs. One of the days was spent at sea, and one day was spent gathering and analysing samples of marine organisms.

The CCB network aims to establish new and develop contacts between engaged citizens in all the Baltic Sea countries and the OCB yearly summer course is a fantastic way to get involved, to learn more about the problems and solutions for the Baltic sea catchment and to meet and learn from each others experiences and specific issues in the respective country and local situation.

Hel Marine Station is situated on the top of the beautiful Hel peninsula in Poland.
