Goal
To solve the environmental problem for waters caused by the agricultural sources through promoting organic farming and the other sustainable ways of land management.Promote the important role of organic farming in the development of sustainable agricultural policies, to reduce the nitrogen and phosphorus loads and minimise pesticides use into the soil and the drainage basin of the Baltic Sea. Promoting changes of Baltic Regional agricultural practices and EU's agricultural policy, CAP, to become tools to reach visible changes of decreased eutrophication in surface waters in the Baltic Sea catchments area, towards development of more environmentally friendly agricultural production. Increase awareness about sustainable agricultural alternatives, including organic farming .
Introduction of sustainable agricultural practices, e g to avoid leakage from manure to surface waters and groundwater/drinking water.
Increase public awareness about the implications of the EU enlargement in the field of agriculture to continue citizens participation for maintaining and protection of Baltic Sea waters and natural rivers ecosystems. Expansion of the information exchange on sustainable agriculture and organic farming within the CCB organizations. Support adoption of sustainable agriculture policies in Poland, through lobbying of governmental officials in Poland. Activities
To lobby national governments and Baltic regional environmental fora for promoting of sustainable agriculture practices and for inclusion of such views in the ongoing revision of CAP; to develop information exchange between partners interested in sustainable agriculture; to highlight the importance that the implementation of the new CAP-reform take into consideration the special conditions of the new EU-member countries in the Baltic Sea region; to advocate for allocation of funds for organic farming and other environmental measures; to co-operate with rural local self-governments to implement environmentally sound policies; to create links between producers and consumers such as marketing of organic products; to encourage institutions such as schools or hotels to use organically grown products; to organise public campaigns promoting organic farming and other environmental measures; to compare market position of farmers in some EU and CEE countries.
