RESULTS OF THE CCB BALTIC 06 CONFERENCE AND THE 15TH CCB GENERAL MEETING

Comments by Gunnar Norén, the CCB Secretary General

I am satisfied and very happy with the Conference and the General Meeting. The whole meeting worked quite well.

Especially I am happy because now the CCB activities include this part of the Baltic Sea catchment area, the Ukrainian region. We can see that now we have good and professional partners here. They are really working very professionally. This new situation is very good for development of transboundary co-operation.

I hope that we could make more focus on the issues we raised at this Conference about the eutrophication problem and about agriculture, because this is one of the main problems. This is actually one of the crucial sectors and areas for the Baltic Sea, and we have to realise this. Now we have a chance to influence the policies and push all the Governments, because some Governments understand that they must do more actions for the Baltic Sea. Now we have to push them in the right direction. We should not miss this chance.

I think more partners can be involved in all these activities. This is my wish.
