Dear friends,

In the coming year 2006 I wish all of you many successes in our common efforts to make the Baltic Sea cleaner and life on its shores more sustainable. And I join all the great wishes from many CCB activists that you can find below.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to You!

Alexander Fedorov
CCB Newsletter editor

Gretings from Valdur Lahtvee, Coalition Clean Baltic Chairman

I wish Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to everyone.

It is December, the time to take time out and to look back and look forward.

If we look back, we see that the year was not remarkably good for the Baltic Sea. Eutrofication is still not reversed in the Baltic Sea. Algae bloom this summer proved again that nutrient load to the Baltic Sea is still too big, no matter what measures have been taken so far. Perhaps now we have to start looking for new ways for protecting the Baltic Sea, new measures to cure the marine environment.

If we look into the future, I think during this year all of us in our countries have felt that the understanding has become more apparent of the links between the human behaviour, economic growth and increased consumption to damage to environmental quality. Therefore, I believe that in the coming year more measures will be taken by the people, by the countries in order to improve the environment and achieve more sustainable development around the Baltic Sea.

I wish the CCB members more strength in pushing your societies and peoples towards this noble goal.

Please find greetings from and nice photos of:
