International Ship Campaign "Live Baltic - 2005"
9 - 18 September 2005, in the Russian part of the Gulf of Finland

The campaign will start from the mooring line in the Central Park of Culture and Recreation in Saint-Petersburg, continue with one-day events in Strelna, Kronshtadt, Lomonosov, Sosnoviy Bor, Ust-Luga, Vyborg, Primorsk and finish near the Piter-and-Paul Fortress in Saint-Petersburg. In each place, exhibitions of the Gulf flora and fauna, and of posters explaining the importance of their protection will be held. Meetings, round tables, discussions with participation of representatives of local authorities, business, public and mass media, excursions on board of the ship and other actions will be organized, and environmental publications will be distributed.

The main goals of the campaign are raising public awareness in coastal communities about unique and valuable ecosystem of the Gulf of Finland as a part of the Baltic Sea, possibilities for sustainable development of coastal zones and public participation in this process, uniting efforts of NGOs and communities for saving our habitat values in the Gulf of Finland Region for new generations.

The campaign is co-ordinated by environmental NGOs Baltic Fund for Nature, Centre for Environmental Initiatives, Friends of the Baltic, Green World, Neva River Clean Water in co-operation with other NGOs, universities, educational and cultural institutions, local authorities, state environmental departments and other local environmental groups and activists from the costal towns and villages. The campaign is supported by Coalition Clean Baltic.
