New River film available

An english version of the environmental educational video "Is the river alive?" produced in Latvia is now available. The film is mainly made as a tool for teachers and students as well as for other people that are interested in monitoring the environmental state and biodiversity of rivers.

To find the answer to the question "Is the river alive?" , the film producers have explored one of the most beautiful rivers of Latvia - the River Salaca, which is famous for its biological diversity and natural wild salmon population.

Watching the film, you will learn:
• about the run of the river from its outlet until its outfall into the sea;
• various water animals and plants and how to identify them;
• how to measure stream velocity;
• how to evaluate water quality

The movie film was prepared by Latvian sientists Loreta and Andris Urtani, film studio Vides filmu studija and Children´s Environmental School.
