Annual Conference and Extra Ordinary General Meeting

We now have the pleasure to invite you to Germany to the CCB Baltic 07 Conference and Extra Ordinary General Meeting!
This year the CCB Baltic Conference and Extra Ordinary General Meeting will be held in Rostock, Germany. The programme starts on Friday afternoon/evening 11May and ends on Sunday 13May.

"Baltic Environment and Economy: Chances, Conflicts, Cooperation"
is the theme for this year's Conference. The compilation of the programme is still in progress, but it will shortly be available. You will always find a current, updated version on the net at www.bund.net/rostock/baltic07/programme

Extra General Meeting
Due to the resignment of Valdur Lahtvee as CCB chairman, there will be an extra ordinary General Meeting devoted to the election of a new chairperson and election of new board member or deputy in case one of the board members/deputies is elected chairman. The Extra Ordinary General Meeting will take place on Sunday 13 May, morning.

Working Group Discussions on CCB Priority Areas
Before noon on Sunday, working groups will have discussions about CCB priority sub-areas. These discussions will be the base for CCB Work programme 2008. Lead parties will be responsible for preparation of the agenda and facilitation of the discussions in the Working Groups.

Poster Presentations
All participants are welcome to present their work connected to the theme of the Conference on a poster. Also posters presenting other work that is done within the CCB Member organisations connected to CCB Priority Areas are most welcome. We need to know in advance how many posters there will be, so please inform BUND (joerg.schmiedel@bund.net) in advance if you will bring a poster.

Working Group Discussions on CCB Priority Areas
During Saturday afternoon working groups will have in-depth discussions about CCB priority sub-areas. These discussions will be the base for CCB Work programme 2007. Lead parties will be responsible for preparation of the agenda and facilitation of the discussions in the Working Groups.

Language
The working language of the Conference will be English.

Excursions
On Sunday afternoon three excursions connected to the theme of the Conference will be arranged.

Conference Venue
The Conference will be in the main building of Rostock University right in the city center. Accomodation will be in the hotel "Am Hopfenmarkt" two blocks away.

Travelling to/from Rostock
All participants should contact the CCB Board Member from their respective country for coordination and information on the most suitable means of the travel. Then all participants shall book their travels by themselves – if no other information is given.

For participants from Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, NE Poland, Belarus, Ukraine and Kaliningrad there will be a big common CCB bus arranged that is planned to start in Riga on Thursday, ca. 15.00 and make a stop in Kaunas in the late afternoon on the same day. The bus is also planned to make a stop in Bielostok for connection of participants from e.g Ukraine and Kaliningrad. From Riga to Rostock it takes about 24 hours. Arrival in Rostock will be on afternoon on Friday 11 May. More detailed information will be provided.

For everyone travelling individually, there are several possibilities:

By Ferry
Direct Ferrylines connect Rostock with Helsinki, Tallinn and Ventspils. Particularly dense schedules (3 - 10 departures daily) exist with Gedser (Denmark) and Trelleborg (Sweden).

By Train
There are direct bi-hourly connections from Berlin and Hamburg. From Szczecin, you will have to change trains once. Conference and hotel are within walking distance from the main train station.

By Plane
Rostock airport has no regular connections with Northern Europe and the Baltic, so the best bet usually is to travel to the airports of Berlin (4-5 train hours away) or Hamburg (3-4 train hours). To Rostock airport, you would have to change planes in e.g. Munich or Cologne. Most flights have direct bus connections to the city center (main train station).

Expenses
No admittance fee is charged for the conference.
For participants from CCB member organizations and associated partners, CCB will cover the costs for accommodation and meals. Please note that our budget only allows this full reimbursement for a limited number of people.
For other participants, the total costs for the hotel (Fri-Sat-Sun) and meals will amount to EUR 80 (double room) or EUR 140 (single room). We have a limited number of discounted reservations at the hotel "Am Hopfenmarkt". Please contact BUND for further details. Of course you are free to choose a different accomodation.

Travel Costs and Reimbursement
We urge member organizations to cover the travel expenses for their participants.
Participants from Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and NE Poland: Costs will be covered by CCB for travelling with the CCB bus.
Participants from Russia, Ukraine and Belarus: Costs will be covered by CCB for travelling with the CCB bus. Additional costs for connecting to the CCB bus will be reimbursed as well.

Beyond that, there are very limited funds for a redemption of travel costs.
Please note that you have to state your requested total amount for travel reimbursement (SEK/EURO), local transport included, at the application form. To keep the budget-line for the Baltic 07 conference, CCB can only guarantee that you will get the amount that you have stated in the application form.

Application
Fill in the registration form and send it by fax or e-mail to Eva Frössling at the CCB International Secretariat (secretariat@ccb.se). Latest date: April 12!

Please note that we only have room for a limited number of participants. We will confirm to all applicants on their possible participation in the Conference, so do not book your ticket before you have got your participation confirmed by the CCB International Secretariat!
The number of people that can participate in the Baltic 07 Conference and General Meeting will depend on the budget allocated for this event.

Visa Application
For those of you who need Visa please contact Jörg Schmiedel at BUND Rostock (js@blu-js.de). Please send your passport data, so that an invitation can be sent to you for VISA application. Usually, you will be best off with a "Schengen Visa", which will normally take up to ten days to be granted. Costs of this Visa will be EUR 35 in Russia and Ukraine and EUR 60 in Belarus. You can apply for a discount, but be prepared that this is NOT a guarantee for reduced costs. With the invitation, you will receive a document explaining the background of the conference to the consulate, including reference to its non-commercial nature, which you might forward along with your Visa application to justify a discount.
If you have any questions, don't hesitate to contact the CCB secretariat or BUND!

We wish you warmly welcome to Germany and Rostock!
